PVD market has several coating techniques and HIPIMS is among the most fascinating ever since it’s ovulation. Over the years several developments are being carried out for HIPIMS power supply such as modification in pulse shape, pulse length and frequency to name a few. Synchronization with HIPIMS based bias and HIPIMS power supply has lead PVD coating solution to new track.
HIPIMS has shown its potential for several application. Author will show and explain about potential to make different colours with ease of simplicity with HIPIMS. Also advantages on several aspects of HIPIMS for decorative application such as on 3D products, effect with not only conventional target material such as Ti, Zr but also some of exotic material.
Functional coating has challenging aspects in PVD industry to meet industrial specification. HIPIMS in combination with synchronized bias has enhanced the coating quality for functional layers. There are challenging industrial demands especially with carbon-based coating which can be achieved with HIPIMS technology.
Lastly Author will explain the new achievements which are excusive towards HIPIMS technology. The results of one of the largest PVD equipment with HIPIMS will be shown during presentation.
