PVD technology has several coating techniques such as traditional arc evaporation, modernized sputtering and highly anticipated HIPIMS technologies. Mentioned techniques are often pioneering to not only academic research but also bridging gap towards commercially viable solutions to the market needs. During presentation author will show those technological aspects leading to fulfilling high volume production demands especially with hydrogen and fuel cell application.
Advancements with such techniques are leading to most innovative solution for several industries like automotive, industrial and medical components to name a few. HIPIMS technology which often regarded as cutting-edge technology will be demonstrated to show its maximum potential with automotive solutions. Carbon based coatings and its performance will be shown to meet automotive production demands.
There are empirical reasons to use PVD as a niche solution for industrial components as well. One of the highly anticipated applications for industrial components is hard chrome which can be applied by conventional technology. Author will place emphasis on the PVD solution which can replace a hard chrome technology. The particular PVD coating solution, together with pre- and post-process, will be shown to achieve hard chrome performance as an industrial solution.
